The number of coronavirus cases in the Middle East has risen to nearly 60,000, doubling in a single week. Governments in the region are scrambling to try to prevent the virus' spread, knowing that their fragile health care systems stand little chance against a disease that has overwhelmed the world's most medically advanced countries.
